AT FIRST SIGHTs: ‘Black Swan’ trailers up, ‘Blood Simple’ gets a remake

Tuesday, August 17th, 2010

I was just gonna Facebook status these, but then I was getting kind of wordy and I thought to myself, ‘Gee I wish I had an appropriate venue for sharing movie news and thoughts…’

I wrote about Black Swan what feels like ages ago, finally some pictures were released of Natalie Portman bird’ed out and now tada! a trailer hits.  And it is as Aronofsky as you could hope.

And by Aronofsky I mean troubling and intriguing and I’ll probably only see it once while certain images will be burned in my brain for forever (thanks but no thanks Requiem for a Dream…)
Check it:

See what I mean?  What do you think?  Brain Donors meets District 9?  Just me??

And then also!  Thanks to FilmDrunk for this- Blood Simple is getting a Chinese remake by none other than Zhang Yimou.  BOOM.  That’s awesome.  I only know of Zhang Yimou because I took that one class in college, so in case you didn’t have the same requirements as me, let me inform you, he’s serious biz.

A Woman, a Gun, and a Noodle Shop is a pretty cool title if you can forget that there was ever a thing called Two Guys, A Girl, and a Pizza Place.  AmIright??

I seriously can’t wait to movie night Blood Simple in preparation.  Who’s in??!!!  (Ahem, Aaron, I’m lookin’ at you…)

DATING: ‘Black Swan’ gets Swan-ier. Cause they’re pretty, get it?

Moons ago I wrote a post about Darren Aronofsky working on a project called ‘Black Swan.’  Natalie Portman was in line to play the lead.  Somewhere between then and now, Mila Kunis was announced as her co-star and rival ballerina as the plot goes.

Um, hello, all together now: JACKPOT.

I saw this picture today and realized that these two are begging for a ‘who’s hotter’ poll and I’m here to oblige.  For the record, Team Mila all the way.

Now it’s your turn, but I don’t want to make the options boring, so let’s play the childhood classic -  F, Marry, Kill.  And we’ll throw in Kate Gosselin to fill in the gap.

FOREPLAY with Mila Kunis

Mila in ‘Forgetting Sarah Marshall’ – another cutesy, sexy, clueless role for our gal.

I know what (at least some of) you boys are thinking. FOREPLAY? With Mila Kunis? Hellz yea! Unfortunately, it’s just clever categorization on our part. We’re talkin’ bout Mila in talks to star opposite Natalie Portman in Darren Aronofsky’s Black Swan. Foreplay with Mila AND Natalie? Hellz yea! Wrong again. They’ll be playing rivals – kind of – since Mila’s character may or may not be a figment of Natalie’s imagination. The world may never know.

I’m gunnin’ for Mila to sign on to this project because I would LOVE for her to break out of her unfortunate typecast and tell us that she CAN act. There’s something about her that takes her out of the ‘completely vapid’ category, but I’d like to be able to say that yes, she’s a good actress. Granted, there was the whole Max Payne thing but really, we can’t blame her for that. If this whole Black Swan thing works out, there might be a Mila Kunis Fan Club in the works. Anyone with me?

FETUS: Fetuses? Aronofsky wants to do too many cool things all at once.

Darren Aronofsky, in a warm post-’The Wrestler’ glow, is in the news today for scoring financing for a supernatural ballet thriller ‘Black Swan’ – sounds cool, no?  Natalie Portman is in talks to star.  Which after her ‘Thor’ attachment news begs the question, what did this bitch do in her former life that was so right?

Problem is!  Aronofsky is already working on a reboot of ‘Robocop’ for MGM.

roboRemember me??

Hmm, that sounds good too….

MGM might shop around for new directors, or they could just wait for Darren to become available, cause as the Risky Biz blog I’m stealing all my info from states:

MGM has been cautious about the number of movies it’s releasing, and is concentrating at the moment on projects such as the 80′s reboot “Red Dawn,” the male-centric comedy “Hot Tub Time Machine,” and a “Poltergeist” reboot.

MGM is also behind the new ‘Fame’ coming out this summer.  MGM!  THAT IS A LOT OF REBOOTS!!!

And it’s kind of funny actually to think of a Robocop reboot.  Cause he’s like a robot.  And they should be rebooted.  It’s in their nature.

Anyhoo, I hope Aronofsky can fit both movies into his sched.  Cause he’s the coolest, and that’s a big fat duh.
