IN LOVE: ‘It Might Get Loud’ – excuse me, might??

Wednesday, August 12th, 2009

Oh, IT WILL.  Even if it’s just me screaming through the whole thing.

Really though, I couldn’t be more excited about this than if I actually played the guitar.  ‘It Might Get Loud’ is a documentary by Davis Guggenheim that explores techniques, inspirations, blah and blah of three guitar biggies- Jimmy Page, the Edge, and Jack White.  It comes out on Friday and some teaser videos are being released and I am happy to present them. has a little bitty with the Edge:

And has a portion of the much buzzed about bit where Jack White writes and delivers a song in a nanosecond:

Can’t wait.  And I’m pretty sure Cindy is gonna faint so that’ll be fun too.

IN LOVE: Mad Men gets Leibovitz’d

Thursday, August 6th, 2009

I heard that Vanity Fair had been planning a ‘Mad Men’ coverstory but they instead scrapped it in favor of a Farrah / Michael tribute issue.

I have nothing bad to say about the woman, but Farrah Fawcett had ZERO affect on my life.  And as for Michael, really, what else is there to say?  Well, I’m sure they’ll come up with something but I’m going to have to have an epic level of boredom to even give those articles a shot.

Anyhoo, has the ‘Mad Men’ story and pictorial on the website here.  But I have decided to post the pictures for you, all of them, because maybe you don’t wanna read that whole (long) article, or maybe I want to decorate our site here with some pretty, or maybe I want to get that annoying start-on-itself ’500 Days’ video off page 1….

I thought this would be a good equal opportunity post.  But what’s with January being fully clothed all the time?  That last one could have used some lady skin, he’s in his pajams so why isn’t she in a nightie??  Dear Annie…..

Season 3 starts in 10 days.  Then I’ll shut up about it, promise.

IN LOVE with ‘Dr. Strangelove’

Tuesday, July 21st, 2009

‘Dr. Strangelove’ movie poster. I want this.

There are some things that I love so unconditionally that I think about them at random and often. Dr. Strangelove Or: How I Learned To Stop Worrying And Love The Bomb is one of these things. And in this time of war and fear of nuclear destruction, it’s good to know that General Jack D. Ripper isn’t in charge of anything important.

I’d never seen the trailer for this genius film before today – and I was pretty impressed. The wordplay reminded me a bit of the In The Loop trailer that Angela loved so dearly. Check it:

IN LOVE: With MCA, for always, get better buddy!!

Monday, July 20th, 2009

This is movie news because Adam Yauch of The Beastie Boys has an independent film company.  But who cares, because when MCA says the word cancer and points to himself, well, everyone sits up straight and makes this face:

He tries to make it sound like a molehill which I really hope is true.  Shoot, he’s already coming up with stuff to do for his time off:

Oscilloscope’s statement went on to say that “founder and company head Adam Yauch expects to be back at work after a brief absence” and offered a lighter, more upbeat thought from Yauch. “This will be a good opportunity to dig through that pile of screeners,” he said. “Maybe I’ll find a few gems.”

And maybe write some cancer raps??  Or no…..

What do I like about this video?  These guys are BFFFs – Best Fuckin’ Friends Forever – and it shows.

IN LOVE: Audrey Tautou in ‘Coco Avant Chanel’

Friday, July 10th, 2009

Scenes from ‘Coco Avant Chanel’ with Audrey Tautou as Coco. I’m bubbling over with excitement. (Photos courtesy IMDB)

Oh Audrey, how I’ve missed you! And now I hear you’re back and Frenchy fabulous. Yes, I will forgive you for accepting The Da Vinci Code script so long as you don’t do anything like THAT ever again. What’s that? Coco Avant Chanel? YAY!

Since I’m about as far from a fashion diva as you can get, this film has done its job – it’s pulled me into getting totally hyped about a fashion film. While I know that Chanel is THE design classic, I would not have cared so much about her until Audrey Tautou portrayed the darling Coco in a biopic. The day is mine. After reading about the new flick, I now know that Coco’s actual first name is Gabrielle and that she earned the nickname ‘Coco’ as a singer, not a designer. I know that hers is a rags-to-riches story and that fact only adds to her fabulousness.

It has a limited release here in the U.S. on September 25th. Luckily, everything shows somewhere in LA. I simply cannot wait. Yay Audrey. Yay Coco. Here’s the trailer. There’s one in English, but I don’t care. This Francophile is posting the French one:

IN LOVE: Vanity Fair teases

Thursday, July 9th, 2009

Oh just stop it.

Channing Tatum and Amanda Seyfried get into character. Jerks. I love them.

Vanity Fair posted ‘Behind the Scenes’ glimpses from an upcoming photo spread.  And now I’m just drooling all over the place.

Pictures out in the August issue.  In unrelated news, my laptop’s wallpaper is undergoing changes in August.
